Error 1 35 on a Balay induction hob: solution
Find out what this warning may mean on your Balay hob and when the inspection should be left to a qualified technician.

The warning 1 35 on a Balay induction hob does not have one universal meaning across every model. It may indicate a communication problem between modules, an electrical supply outside the normal range or an internal electronic fault. The exact interpretation depends on the appliance’s complete reference and on how the code appears on the display.

What the 1 35 warning means on Balay appliances
On some hobs, the display segments may show numbers alternately or incompletely, particularly when there is a problem with the power electronics. That is why what looks like 1 35 may be a combination of indications rather than a single code. The model label, usually found underneath the appliance or in its documents, is essential for checking the correct table.
The warning may appear after a power cut, storm, tripped circuit breaker or unstable electrical supply. It can also result from a fault in the control board, power module or communication between them. If the message disappears for a few minutes, that does not prove the problem is fixed: the electronics may detect it again when a cooking zone is activated.
Safe checks before calling a technician
Switch the hob off at its controls and cut the power at the electrical panel for a few minutes. Then restore the supply and check whether the warning returns without placing cookware on the surface. This electrical reset only clears temporary lockups; it does not repair a damaged component and should not be repeated if the breaker trips again.
Also note whether the control panel responds, whether every zone works and whether the code appears immediately or only when power is increased. Non-magnetic cookware, the child lock or an empty cooking zone usually cause other symptoms, such as flashing indicators, but a numerical code should not automatically be blamed on the cookware. The surface must be dry, clean and free of metal objects during the test.
When the electrical installation is the source
An induction hob can draw several kilowatts when multiple zones are used at once. If the installation lacks the correct cable size, protection or power setting, interruptions and warnings may occur. In a home, the residual-current device protects against leakage, while the circuit breaker responds to overloads or short circuits; they do not perform the same job.
If the code appears after a storm, there is a smell of hot plastic, sparks, a warm cable or repeated trips at the panel, leave the appliance disconnected. Do not dismantle the hob or measure voltage while it is connected: internal parts may retain energy, and an incorrect connection can worsen the damage. An electrician should check the supply, while an appliance technician should inspect the electronics if the installation is sound.
Repair depends on the model and the damage
When the warning remains after a reset, diagnosis usually involves checking connectors, sensors, the power supply and power modules. In some cases, correcting a connection is enough; in others, an electronic board must be replaced or programmed. The cost cannot be established from the code alone, as it varies with the Balay model, parts availability and labor.
The complete reference prevents similar codes from being confused and makes it possible to consult the right manual. Note when the message appeared, which zones were active and whether there had been a power interruption. That information provides a useful clue and helps distinguish a temporary grid problem from a persistent electronic fault. While the warning remains, using the hob normally may turn a minor anomaly into a more complicated repair.
