Balay 3EB815LR error: causes and safe solutions
Common fault causes and safe checks to restore this induction cooktop to working order.

The Balay 3EB815LR may stop heating, make the power level flash or show a combination of digits when it cannot detect the pan correctly, a lock is active or an electrical issue occurs. In many cases, a simple check solves the problem, but persistent codes require the installation to be inspected by a qualified technician.
If you have a problem with your cooktop, you can use our free error code search tool. From there you can find out about and solve all errors easily and effectively.
Why the cooking zones flash and show zero
A flashing indicator beside zero usually means that the cooktop does not recognize the pan. Induction only activates a zone when it detects a compatible, flat base containing enough ferromagnetic material. An aluminum, ceramic, glass or non-magnetic steel pan may look suitable but will not heat. The quickest test is to place a magnet against the base: if it is not attracted, the pan is unsuitable for this technology.
Size and position also matter. The left zone accepts pans up to 280 millimeters, while the two right areas have diameters of 145 and 210 millimeters. The pan must be centered, dry and in contact with the glass. A warped base, a pan that is too small or moisture can cause the same symptom. Removing the pan for a few seconds, cleaning the panel and placing it back helps rule out an irregular detection.
Codes, locks and power supply faults
The combination identified by some users as 3C should not be interpreted without confirming the exact format shown on the display and in the appliance manual. Warnings linked to temperature, internal communication or power supply may look similar. Before touching anything, switch off the cooktop using its controls and disconnect the relevant circuit for a few minutes; then restore power and check whether the warning disappears.
The child lock can also prevent the controls from responding even when the cooktop has power. Hold the lock sensor for the time specified in the model documentation and avoid touching several controls at once. If codes such as 3, 43, 2 or 46 appear, record them exactly, along with when they occur and which zone is affected. This information helps distinguish a temporary fault from a problem requiring diagnosis.
Electrical installation and warning signs
This model is a built-in cooktop measuring 592 millimeters wide, with a connected load of 4,600 watts and a 220 to 240 volt supply. The connection must match the manufacturer’s specifications and have suitable protection. Incorrect wiring, an insufficient cable cross-section or a circuit shared with other powerful appliances can cause shutdowns, codes and abnormal heating.
Bottom ventilation is not a minor detail: the appliance contains electronic components and a fan that need to release heat. Air inlets must not be blocked, and drawers should not contain objects pressed against the underside. If you hear crackling, notice a burning smell, the residual-current device trips or the glass is cracked, disconnect the appliance and do not use it again. Cracked glass must not be repaired with adhesive, and the cooktop should not be opened without electrical training.
When the fault points to a repair
If the indicators continue flashing with several compatible pans, the reset changes nothing or only some zones work, the problem may involve the power module, sensors, electronic board or electrical supply. In that situation, changing pans will not solve the cause. Residual heat, a fan and touch controls show that some appliance functions remain active, but they do not prove that the induction circuit is working correctly.
The Balay 3EB815LR offers three zones, 17 power levels, a timer and a residual-heat indicator. These features make daily use easier, although they also make an internal intervention more delicate than simple cleaning. The exact code, serial number and symptoms should be provided to technical support; this avoids replacing parts by trial and error and preserves the safety of an installation working with several kilowatts.
