What prevents the scooter and phone from connecting

The Xiaomi scooter usually does not have a separate switch for activating Bluetooth. Its wireless module becomes available when the vehicle is switched on, while pairing is managed through the Mi Home app. That is why searching for the scooter only from the phone’s Bluetooth menu may not work: the app is the intended way to complete registration.

Simple causes can also be involved. A phone connected to headphones or other devices, an outdated app, location disabled on Android or a rejected Bluetooth permission can prevent the scooter from appearing. Distance matters less than interference, but it is best to keep both devices within 10 meters and away from thick walls during the first pairing.

How to restore Bluetooth pairing

Start with the scooter switched off and the phone unlocked. Turn on Bluetooth, disable airplane mode and close other apps that may be using wireless connections. Then switch on the vehicle, open Mi Home and sign in with the correct Xiaomi account. Use the add-device option, select the scooter category and follow the instructions shown on screen.

Keeping the scooter and phone software current improves compatibility, although an update should never be interrupted with a nearly empty battery. Charge the scooter and keep the phone nearby until the process ends.

A message saying the device is linked to another account points to a previous registration, especially common with second-hand scooters. The former owner must remove it from their Xiaomi account; if that is not possible, official support and proof of purchase may be required. A factory reset should not be performed blindly: it can erase settings without fixing a defective wireless module.

The decisive test is trying to connect with another compatible, updated phone. If no phone detects the scooter after checking permissions, the app, battery and firmware, the Bluetooth module or control board may be faulty. In that situation, repeatedly forcing pairings will not solve the problem; a technical inspection is safer, especially if the vehicle has suffered water damage, impacts or firmware modifications.

A stable connection also depends on how it is used

Bluetooth is used to view statistics, change some settings, lock the vehicle and receive updates, but it does not replace physical controls and should not be used while riding. Keeping the official app updated, protecting the Xiaomi account with a strong password and disconnecting unnecessary accessories reduces conflicts and improves privacy.

The most effective sequence combines simple checks with patience: scooter switched on, phone nearby, permissions granted, Mi Home updated and only one active pairing. When these conditions are met, the connection is usually restored without opening the vehicle. If the problem remains even with another phone, it is no longer a configuration issue and is more likely a fault requiring professional inspection.
