A Mywigo scooter that will not turn on, loses power or stops may have a simple problem, such as a faulty charger, or a failure involving the battery, throttle or controller. The key is to check each element in order and avoid replacing parts without first confirming the source of the fault.

First checks when it will not turn on

The power switch or button should respond normally, and the display should show some sign of life. Connect the charger directly to a working outlet and observe its indicator light. If the charger stays green when connected to the scooter, it may not be delivering power, the port may be dirty, or the battery may be internally disconnected.

Inspect the cable along its entire length, especially near the connector and plug. A bent cable, cracked casing or smell of hot plastic is enough reason to stop using it. The charging port must be dry and free of bent pins; never insert metal objects or force the connector, because a short circuit can damage the electronics.

If the scooter got wet, switch it off, dry the outside and do not charge it until the port and base are certainly completely dry. Moisture inside the chassis can cause intermittent faults that appear and disappear before creating more serious damage.

Battery, charger and loss of range

An aging battery usually shows several symptoms: much shorter range, shutdowns on hills or a battery level that drops suddenly. In Mywigo models that have been used for years, capacity may have fallen through the natural wear of the cells. Do not open a lithium battery or attempt to repair its cells if it is swollen, hot, damaged or giving off an unusual smell.

Replacement compatibility does not depend only on physical fit. You must check nominal voltage, capacity in Ah, size, connector and polarity. A battery with the wrong voltage can damage the controller and create a fire risk. Confirm the exact model reference, usually found on a label on the chassis or battery assembly, before buying.

To care for the battery, use the correct charger, avoid leaving the scooter discharged for weeks and store it somewhere dry, away from intense sunlight and extreme temperatures. It is not necessary to run the battery completely empty every time: recharging at roughly 20% to 30% reduces cell stress.

When it turns on but does not accelerate

If the display lights up but the motor does not respond, the cause may be the throttle, brake, wiring or controller. Some systems disable acceleration when they detect an engaged brake lever, so check that neither lever is stuck and that its cable is not tight or pinched.

Jerking, buzzing or vibration during acceleration may indicate a poor connection between the motor and controller. A burning smell, abnormal heat or sudden power loss requires stopping the test and disconnecting the scooter. Continuing to ride in these conditions can worsen the damage and compromise safety.

It is also worth inspecting the wheels, folding mechanism and brakes. A locked wheel, significant handlebar play or worn brake pads are not minor inconveniences: they affect vehicle control. Professional inspection is particularly advisable when the fault involves the battery, steering, brakes or internal components.

Compatible parts and safe diagnosis

Buying from a photograph or based on a part’s similar appearance often leads to incompatibility. Before purchasing a charger, display, throttle or battery, compare the model reference, dimensions and connectors. The correct replacement matches electrically and mechanically, not necessarily the cheapest part or one advertised as universal.

An orderly diagnosis prevents spending twice: first check the power supply, then the charger and port, followed by visible connections and finally internal components. If the scooter still does not work after these checks, a technician can measure voltage and continuity with the proper tools instead of improvising around the battery.

A stopped Mywigo does not always need a new part. Sometimes correcting a connection or replacing a damaged charger is enough; in other cases, battery wear makes repair uneconomical. The safest decision comes from identifying the symptom, confirming compatibility and assessing the overall condition before riding again.
