E14 error in Balay 3VS701 A dishwasher: causes and fix
E14 usually involves the flow meter or water inlet. These checks help identify the fault.

The E14 code on the Balay 3VS701 A dishwasher usually appears when the appliance does not correctly receive the signal from the flow meter, the sensor that measures incoming water. Before removing any panels, check the tap, hose and inlet filter: a simple restriction can create the same warning as a failed component.

What E14 means on the Balay 3VS701 A
On this dishwasher family, E14 is mainly linked to the water inlet and measurement system. The electronic module expects to receive pulses from the sensor while the appliance fills. If those pulses do not arrive, are irregular or the flow is insufficient, the program may stop as a safety measure.
The message does not identify one specific part by itself. It may also be caused by a partially closed tap, a kinked hose, a dirty small filter or a loose electrical connection. That is why replacing the sensor immediately would be like replacing a house meter without first checking whether the main valve is open.
Safe checks before removing panels
Switch off the dishwasher, unplug it and close the water supply tap. Make sure the inlet hose is not crushed behind the cabinet and that the tap opens fully. A small filter screen may be present at the connection, holding limescale or particles; clean it carefully without piercing or deforming it.
The filter inside the tub is also worth checking, although a blockage there usually affects draining more than the flow meter. After cleaning the accessible parts and restoring the supply, leave the appliance unplugged for about 10 minutes and run a short cycle. If E14 returns immediately, the cause is probably in the inlet circuit or its electronic reading.
When to inspect the flow meter
The flow meter is located in the side hydraulic assembly and is normally protected behind a panel. Its exact position may vary between model revisions, so the full E-Nr from the dishwasher rating plate is essential when ordering a compatible replacement. Identifying it only as Balay 3VS701 A is not enough if the remaining characters are missing.
With the appliance unplugged, a technician can check for moisture, deposits, loose wires or corrosion around the connector. If the sensor is damaged, it is replaced with a compatible reference and the filling process is then tested for stability. The part often costs around 15 euros, but labor and travel increase the final price. The electronic board may also be involved, although it should not be the first suspect.
Water, foam and signs that change the diagnosis
Very weak water intake can be mistaken for a faulty sensor. The household tap should provide a sufficient, steady flow; if water barely comes out, check the valve, household pressure or a possible blockage. A visible leak, water under the appliance or an activated anti-flood system requires closing the supply and avoiding further cycles.
Too much detergent or an unsuitable product can create foam and affect hydraulic operation, but it is not the most common explanation for E14 on this model. If the code remains after checking the supply, repeated resets are not advisable. Handling panels, connections and wet parts requires experience to prevent electric shocks, leaks and electronic damage.
A repair that depends on diagnosis
E14 on the Balay 3VS701 A is often resolved by cleaning the water inlet or replacing the flow meter, but the code alone does not prove that a particular part has failed. The full model number, filling behavior and electrical checks determine the correct replacement.
When the warning returns immediately, the dishwasher does not take in water or leaks are visible, professional inspection is the prudent option. An accurate diagnosis prevents buying an incompatible sensor and distinguishes between an inexpensive blockage, a defective valve and a control fault requiring a different repair.
