Error E5B in Electrolux washing machine

Description

Error: E5B

The input voltage falls below 175 V, causing the appliance to display the E5B fault.

Cause

Low mains voltage or a fault in the appliance electrical circuit. Possible causes include wiring problems, a damaged power cable or plug, a burned component on the electronic control board, or a failing electronic control board.

Solutions

  1. Check the house electrical installation:

Verify that the mains supply is stable and above 175 V. Test the outlet with a multimeter or consult an electrician if you suspect voltage drops.

  2. Inspect the appliance power cable and plug:

Ensure the cable and plug are intact, correctly connected and show no signs of damage or overheating.

  3. Check wiring from plug to electronic board:

Open the appliance (only if qualified) and inspect the wiring for loose connections, corrosion or burned connectors between the inlet and the electronic control board.

  4. Inspect the electronic control board:

Look for burned components, blown capacitors or visible damage on the board. Replace the electronic control board if faults are found.

  5. If problem persists:

Contact specialized technical service or the store where you purchased the appliance for professional diagnosis and repair.

Notes for Electrolux dryers (related)

On Electrolux dryers the E5B message can also relate to internal temperature control issues. In addition to the steps above, check the temperature sensor, thermostat and thermal fuse if the appliance is a dryer.

More tips

  • Perform checks only if you have the required skills. Otherwise call a technician.
  • Keep a record of voltage measurements and any visible damage to help the technician.
  • If the mains supply repeatedly drops below 175 V, have an electrician assess the household wiring or mains feed.

When to contact service

If you cannot locate or fix the fault after the basic checks, or if you detect damaged electronic components, contact Electrolux technical service or the store where you bought the appliance for repair or replacement of parts.
