Another unrealistic expectation is that the robot will collect any liquid. Most household devices are designed for dust and controlled mopping, not for vacuuming up puddles. A large spill can reach the motor, wet the filter, and cause a malfunction. Before starting a cycle, liquids should be dried and objects that could block the suction duct should be removed.

Wireless connectivity is also not essential for the base to empty the dust when the robot returns to it. Without internet, the device can maintain basic functions, although the app, maps, updates, and remote control will no longer be available. Protection against allergies depends on the system as a whole: the robot’s filtration, bag sealing, emptying frequency, and the way waste is handled. A HEPA filter can retain very fine particles during use, but it requires maintenance. It is also advisable to avoid emptying a full bag inside a closed room, especially if there are people who are sensitive to dust.

A decision that depends on how much maintenance you want to keep

The best choice is not necessarily the robot with the most sophisticated station. For a small, predominantly dry home, a base that empties the dust can save enough time without adding tanks, detergents, or a bulky structure. For a home with a lot of hard flooring, children, or pets, automatic washing and drying better justify the additional cost because they turn mopping into a consistent routine.
