This option prevents the cooktop from demanding more energy than is available, but it may lengthen heating time if several burners are used simultaneously. For a two-person household, three zones and 60 centimeters are usually sufficient; for frequent group cooking, the distance between zones may be more important than the advertised number.
Features that really change the user experience
The slider control allows you to adjust the power with a finger movement and is more direct than repeatedly pressing the increase and decrease symbols. Depending on the model, it may offer up to 17 power levels and several temperature levels. Precision is especially useful when melting chocolate, keeping a sauce warm, or cooking delicate foods, although stability also depends on the cookware and the amount of food.
Temperature control attempts to maintain a selected value for specific tasks, such as frying or keeping a preparation warm. It does not turn the cooktop into laboratory equipment: the actual temperature of the oil varies according to the pan, the food, and the amount used. Its advantage lies in reducing fluctuations and facilitating repeatable results. It is a control aid, not a substitute for attention while cooking.
The temporary boost function, known on many appliances as Boost or Sprint, concentrates more power for a limited period to boil water or heat a large pot. It can save several minutes, but it increases instantaneous consumption and is not the best choice for every recipe. Pause, timer, and settings-memory functions are less striking, although they solve common situations when a preparation is interrupted or repeated.

No surface is simultaneously immune to stains, impacts, and scratches; the right decision depends on the importance each household places on design, ease of cleaning, and budget.
What to check before buying
The first check should be the available cutout and the cabinet’s ventilation system. A 60-centimeter cooktop cannot necessarily be installed in any countertop of that width, because it needs safety clearances, lower ventilation, and a cutout with specific measurements. The countertop thickness, oven position, and presence of drawers may affect installation.
Next, it is worth comparing the zone layout. A 32-centimeter extra-large zone may be more useful than a small fourth zone for someone who uses paella pans or large casserole dishes. For elongated cookware, a flexible function makes sense; for a kitchen based on three round pots, it may be more important for the zones to be well separated and for the controls to respond quickly.
The technical specifications should state the connected load, plug or connection type, cutout dimensions, power levels, and safety systems. It is also important to check whether the price includes installation, removal of the old appliance, delivery, and warranty. An apparently inexpensive model may become more expensive if it requires adapting the electrical circuit or hiring additional services.
