How to respond when the E402 error appears

Cease operation in the affected cooking zone and do not continue cooking while the warning is active. If other zones are also operating at high power, switch them off as well to reduce the total thermal load.

Remove the cookware.
Take the pan or other cookware off the cooking surface. Move very hot pots, pans and lids away from the hob so they do not continue radiating heat onto the glass or the area around the affected zone.

Allow the cooktop to cool naturally.
Wait until the affected zone and the surrounding appliance have returned to a safe temperature. Do not try to force immediate operation while the hob is still hot. The warning usually disappears during this cooling phase, although the normal residual heat indicator may remain illuminated for some time.

Cut the power supply for at least 30 seconds.
For a plug-in unit, unplug the appliance. For a built-in model, switch off the cooktop fuse, safety switch or the relevant circuit at the electrical panel. Keep the power disconnected for at least 30 seconds. Waiting several minutes can be helpful because it allows internal capacitors to discharge more fully and clears a temporary blocked state in the electronics.

What not to do when E402 appears
- Do not continue cooking at maximum power. Continuing while the warning is active increases thermal stress and may worsen the problem or damage the electronics.

- Do not repeatedly reset the cooktop as a permanent solution. A recurring E402 is a diagnostic clue, not a final repair.
