What the 123 warning may indicate on a Balay hob

When the hob shows a numerical combination that does not disappear after removing the cookware or drying the control panel, the safest interpretation is an alert linked to the control system. The electronics monitor temperature, power supply, touch sensors and communication between power modules. If an inconsistent reading is detected, heating may be disabled to prevent damage.

The code may also appear after a power cut, a voltage surge or a recent installation. A poor connection in the electrical box, wiring that does not follow the manual or an unstable voltage can trigger messages that look like a hob failure.
