Error F10 in Fagor boiler

Error F10 in Fagor boiler
Description
Error F10 in a Fagor boiler indicates a problem detecting or extinguishing the flame. The controller attempts to shut off the flame by alternately closing the burner solenoid valves. If the flame does not go out within about 5 seconds after closing a valve, the controller closes the other solenoid valve to check. If the flame still persists, the boiler will lock and display F10. This fault commonly points to a relay or electronic control issue (stuck relay contacts, coil failure) or to components that keep the flame present.
Possible causes
- Faulty relay or relay contacts on the control PCB (stuck or burned contacts, failed coil)
- Malfunctioning ionization probe (spark/ionization electrode) or incorrect flame detection
- Gas valve or solenoid valve not closing correctly
- Ignition/spark transformer failure
- Wiring or connector faults between board and burner components
- Electronic board / communication fault between PCB and burner components
Checks and diagnosis
- Perform a controlled reset of the boiler to clear the lock and observe whether F10 returns.
- Visually inspect wiring and connectors for burned, loose or corroded contacts.
- Observe burner behavior during shutdown: does the flame extinguish when one solenoid closes?
- Test the ionization electrode for correct placement, cleanliness and continuity; replace if damaged.
- Check the gas/solenoid valves for correct operation and response when energized/de-energized.
- Measure relay operation on the PCB (listen for clicks, or check switching with appropriate tools) and inspect for burned contacts.
- Verify the ignition/spark transformer output and secondary connections.
Solutions and repairs
Follow repairs based on the diagnostic findings. Typical corrective actions include:
- Clean or replace the ionization probe/electrode if it fails to detect flame correctly.
- Repair or replace faulty solenoid/gas valves that do not close properly.
- Replace defective relays or repair the PCB if relay contacts or coils have failed.
- Replace a failing ignition/spark transformer.
- Repair damaged wiring or loose connectors between the board and burner components.
- If the electronic board shows intermittent or communication faults, consider replacement of the PCB or professional reprogramming/repair.
Safety note: Work on gas appliances involves risk. If you are not qualified to perform electrical or gas-system repairs, contact an authorized Fagor service technician.
When to call technical service
- If the boiler remains locked on F10 after basic checks and reset
- If you identify PCB, relay, gas valve or transformer faults and are not trained to replace them
- For validation, adjustment and safe commissioning after component replacement
F10 in other Fagor appliances (dryer)
Note
On Fagor dryers the F10 code typically means a communication problem between electronic boards and components, not the burner-related fault described for boilers. If you see F10 on a Fagor dryer, follow appliance-specific checks below.
Basic checks for Fagor dryer F10
- Check all connectors and wiring for loose, damaged or corroded contacts.
- Inspect the electronic board and key components for visible damage.
- If wiring and components appear OK, a programming fault or failed electronic board may require professional service.
More tips
If you cannot resolve the F10 error on your Fagor boiler (or dryer), contact the official Fagor technical service or an authorized specialist. They can provide safe, effective diagnosis and repairs and prevent further damage to the appliance.
