Error E53 in Electrolux washing machine

How to eliminate E53 error in Electrolux washing machine?

Description

Error: E53 — Parts of the triac control circuit of the electric motor are out of service. This indicates a motor-related problem or a fault in the motor drive components on the electronic control board (for example: TRIAC, relay or associated circuitry).

Possible causes

  • Faulty triac or relay on the electronic control board.
  • Damaged or loose motor connections or wiring between motor and control board.
  • Motor faults: worn brushes, failed tachometer (speed sensor), damaged coils or other internal motor components.
  • Burnt traces or damaged components on the electronic board that drive the motor.

Diagnosis — what to check

  1. Disconnect power and perform a visual inspection of the control board and motor for burnt components, signs of overheating or loose connectors.
  2. Check motor connections and connectors for corrosion, broken wires or poor contact.
  3. Test the triac and relay on the electronic board (using proper tools and safety precautions) to verify they switch correctly.
  4. Inspect motor components: measure brush wear, verify the tachometer/encoder output and check winding continuity on coils.
  5. Measure relevant voltages and signals while powered (only if qualified) to confirm the board is commanding the motor and the motor responds.

Solution

  • Replace any faulty components found: triac, relay, damaged wiring or connectors, worn motor brushes, tachometer or faulty motor coils.
  • If the electronic control board shows burnt or damaged parts, repair or replace the board.
  • After replacing parts, retest the machine through a complete cycle to confirm the error is cleared.
  • Always follow safety procedures: disconnect mains before working on the appliance and, if unsure, seek professional service.

More tips

If you cannot identify or fix the fault, contact Electrolux technical service or a qualified appliance technician. They can perform detailed diagnostics and recommend repair or replacement. In some cases, if motor or board replacement is not cost-effective, replacing the machine may be considered.
