Error E32 in Electrolux washing machine

Error: E32
Description: Incorrect or faulty signal from the “prisoner” (water level/pressure) system. This can indicate overfilling, excess foam or problems with the water/pressure detection circuit.

Common symptoms

  • Machine displays E32 and stops the program.
  • Overfilling or incorrect water level detected.
  • Excess foam or repeated rinse/drain cycles.
  • Unusual behavior of inlet/drain (no water, slow fill, or continuous filling).

Possible causes

  • Closed or partially closed water supply tap, or very low water pressure.
  • Blocked or dirty inlet filter mesh.
  • Faulty or stuck inlet (solenoid) valve.
  • Faulty pressure switch / level sensor, damaged hose/pipe or membrane (referred to as “prisoner”).
  • Blocked tubes, ducts or drain hoses affecting pressure sensing.
  • Excess foam interfering with level detection.
  • Damaged relay, wiring or electronic board components.

Step-by-step solutions

  1. Check water supply first

Make sure the water tap is fully open and hoses are not kinked. Confirm adequate water pressure at the tap.

  2. Clean the inlet filter

Turn off water, remove the inlet hose and clean the filter mesh on the valve. Reinstall and test.

  3. Inspect and test the inlet (solenoid) valve

If the valve is blocked or not opening properly, replace it. A faulty valve can cause incorrect filling and trigger E32.

  4. Check the pressure/level system (the “prisoner”)

Inspect the pressure switch, its tube/pipe and membrane for blockages, cracks or disconnections. Clean or replace the tube and check the membrane and electrical connections to the switch.

  5. Clear tubes, ducts and drains

Remove any blockages in internal hoses, ducts and the drain pump path that could affect pressure sensing.

  6. Remove excess foam

If excessive foam is present, run extra rinses or use an anti-foam cycle and ensure correct detergent use in future loads.

  7. Check electronics and relays

Inspect connectors, wiring and the relay related to the level circuit. If a relay or PCB component is faulty, replace the defective part.

  8. Perform a test cycle

After each repair or cleaning step, run a short test cycle to verify the error no longer appears.

When to replace parts

  • Replace inlet valve if it fails to open/close properly or is visibly damaged.
  • Replace pressure switch or its hose if cleaning does not restore correct readings.
  • Replace relay or control board components only after confirming wiring and sensors are good.

Safety and testing

Always disconnect the appliance from the mains before inspecting internal components. If you are not experienced with electrical repairs, avoid opening the control board and contact a technician.

More tips

If you cannot resolve the E32 error after these checks, we recommend contacting technical or specialist service. Electrolux authorized service centers (for example Electrolux service in Madrid) can diagnose the fault and provide genuine replacement parts and repair instructions.

Recommended replacement parts

  • Inlet (solenoid) valve
  • Pressure switch (level sensor) and pressure hose
  • Relay or electronic control board (if diagnosed faulty)
