Error E11 in Electrolux washing machine

Error: E11

Description: Water is not supplied to the drum/tank during program execution. The amount of water did not reach the required level within the allotted time — in short, a water supply/filling problem.

Possible causes

  • Closed or poorly opened water tap, kinked or blocked inlet hose.
  • Low water pressure or no water in the supply pipes.
  • Clogged inlet filter/strainer or obstruction in the inlet system.
  • Faulty water inlet solenoid valve (coil) or its electrical supply.
  • Faulty triac or other component on the control board that drives the inlet valve.
  • Faulty flowmeter/level sensor or pressure switch (if fitted).
  • Incorrect drain hose position causing siphoning or backflow (check height per manual).
  • Damaged wiring or connector to the inlet valve or sensors.

Step-by-step checks and solutions

1. Basic external checks

  • Verify the water tap is fully open and there is water supply to the house.
  • Inspect the inlet hose for kinks, bends or damage; ensure it is properly connected.
  • Check inlet hose connections for leaks and that the hose is not frozen in cold weather.
  • Ensure the drain hose is positioned according to the manufacturer’s specifications to avoid siphoning/backflow.

2. Clean filters and remove obstructions

  • Turn off water and disconnect the inlet hose. Clean the small inlet filter/strainer at the valve and any mesh inside the hose connection.
  • Remove any debris or mineral buildup in the inlet path that could restrict flow.

3. Inspect and test the inlet valve (solenoid)

  • Locate the water inlet valve and check electrical connectors for corrosion or loose contacts.
  • Measure the coil resistance of the inlet valve. Typical reference: approximately 3.75 kΩ. If the coil is open or far from this value, replace the valve.
  • If the valve clicks but does not pass water, it may be mechanically clogged or failing and should be replaced.

4. Check control electronics (triac and wiring)

  • If the inlet valve is good but does not receive voltage when filling should occur, check the control board output (triac/transistor) that drives the valve.
  • Inspect wiring and connectors between the control board and the valve for continuity and damage.
  • Faulty triacs or board components require repair or replacement of the control module.

5. Verify sensors and flow measurement

  • If the machine has a flowmeter, pressure switch or water level sensor, verify they are functioning and correctly connected.
  • A defective flowmeter or level sensor can falsely report no water, triggering E11.

6. Final actions

  • After cleaning, testing and any replacements, run a short filling program to confirm water enters and the error clears.
  • If intermittent, monitor water pressure during a cycle — weak supply can cause recurring E11.

When to contact technical service

If you cannot locate or fix the fault after the checks above, contact Electrolux technical service or a qualified technician. Do not attempt high-voltage or complex electronic repairs without proper training. Always disconnect power and turn off the water supply before inspecting internal components.
